Softball Falls Short in NECC Conference Tournament Championship

Fairfield Varsity Falcons could not keep up with Churubusco Eagles Varsity Softball 5-4 on Friday at Churubusco Park Trails. Fairfield Varsity Falcons got on the board in the first inning after Lilly Yoder singled, scoring one run. A single by Lydia Parker gave Churubusco Eagles Varsity Softball the lead, 2-1, in the bottom of the first. Churubusco Eagles Varsity Softball added one run in the second. Ava Marks singled to center field, making the score 3-1. Madison Jones homered to center field, scoring two runs in the top of the sixth for the Fairfield Varsity Falcons. Alyssa Marks earned the win for Churubusco Eagles Varsity Softball. The starting pitcher surrendered seven hits and four runs (three earned) over seven innings, striking out six and walking none. Grace Mast took the loss for Fairfield Varsity Falcons. The lefty went six innings, surrendering five runs (three earned) on seven hits, striking out two and walking two. Jones provided pop in the middle of the lineup, and led Fairfield Varsity Falcons with two runs batted in. The right-handed hitter went 1-for-3 on the day. Preslee Caouette went 2-for-3 at the plate to lead Fairfield Varsity Falcons in hits. Marks and Parker each drove in two runs for Churubusco Eagles Varsity Softball.
